Vermont is a haven for mountain bikers, boasting some of the best riding on the entire East Coast. With a network of trails scattered across the state, there's always an epic adventure waiting around the corner. Thanks to the tireless efforts of our partner, Vermont Mountain Bike Association (VMBA) and dedicated local volunteers, these incredible trails are meticulously maintained, constantly evolving, and offer something for every rider.
It would take quite a while to list out all of the trails worth talking about, and Vermont has already had a lot of coverage on the most popular trails near Chittenden county, so here is a short list of our top 5 lesser-known trails to introduce some variety and draw attention to these other networks. To cater to all riders, we’ve listed them in increasing order of spicy-ness:
1. S6- Avery’s Interstate (Waterbury)
This 1.1-mile loop offers the perfect blend of technical terrain and flowy sections. Navigate through the woods, tackling smooth berms, medium jumps, and fun rock gardens before returning to the bottom for another thrilling climb.
2. Little River- Hill Farmer (Waterbury)
Nestled within Little River State Park, this trail rewards your effort with a breathtaking descent. Conquer the challenging climb and be greeted by a beautifully crafted, top-to-bottom route. Enjoy jumps, rock gardens, berms, and smooth transitions, all within easy reach of the park's campsites and amenities.
3. Endless Brook Trails- Rocky Ridge (Poultney)
Seeking tranquility with a side of challenge? Escape to the Endless Brook network. Ascend to a scenic overlook, then brace yourself for a thrilling descent weaving through rock rolls, chunky gardens, and table jumps.
4. Randolph- Cut it Loose (Randolph)
This hidden gem boasts three distinct networks just minutes from town. Park at the Gear House, grab a trail map, and head out for an adventure. After a moderate climb, a technical descent awaits, packed with steep drops and challenging terrain.
5. Cady’s Falls- Steep Down (Waterbury)
This network, situated near the popular Cady Hill trails, offers a quick and easy entry point to a world of steep and rocky descents. Conquer the challenging climb to the tower and be rewarded with one of the gnarliest descents in the area.
Bonus: The Driving Range (Bolton Valley) – This brand new network features machine-built trails designed for all-mountain biking accessibility. Conquer the climb and choose your path – tame the technical terrain of Brush Fire or shred the incredible bike-park-style features of Hot Dogger.
